Dance
Dance at Wasatch Elementary
Dance is an important part of the fine arts experience at Wasatch Elementary. Through dance, students learn to move with purpose, express ideas, collaborate with others, and build confidence as creative learners.
Wasatch is proud to have Chara Huckins as our dance teacher through the Beverley Taylor Sorenson Arts Learning Program. This program helps bring high-quality arts learning and arts integration into elementary schools, giving students meaningful opportunities to learn through movement, creativity, and expression.
In dance, students explore rhythm, space, movement, pattern, energy, and storytelling. They learn how movement can communicate ideas, connect to classroom learning, and help them better understand themselves and the world around them. Dance also supports cooperation, focus, confidence, body awareness, and respectful participation.
Students may have opportunities to create, rehearse, perform, reflect, and respond to dance throughout the school year. These experiences help students take creative risks, work together, and celebrate the many ways people can express thinking and feeling through the arts.
At Wasatch, we believe the arts help students shine. Dance gives our students another powerful way to create, perform, reflect, and belong.
