Counseling and Student Support

Wasatch Elementary is committed to helping students feel safe, connected, confident, and ready to learn. Our school counselor, Sheila Jaymes, supports students as they build social skills, solve problems, manage emotions, strengthen friendships, and develop a strong sense of belonging at school.

Students may receive support through classroom lessons, small groups, individual check-ins, problem-solving conversations, family collaboration, and connections to school or community resources when needed.

Families are important partners in supporting student well-being. If you have concerns about your child’s social, emotional, or school experience, please contact us so we can work together to support your child.

For counseling and student support questions, please contact Sheila Jaymes at sheila.jaymes@slcschools.org or call the Wasatch office at 801-578-8564.

Hello Wasatch families! I’m Sheila Jaymes, and I am grateful to serve as the school counselor at Wasatch Elementary. I have worked in Salt Lake City School District for many years and love supporting students, families, and school communities.

I am proud of my Native American heritage, which is an important part of who I am and how I understand the value of identity, belonging, family, culture, and community. I believe every child deserves to feel seen, respected, and supported as their full self at school.

Outside of school, I enjoy making jewelry and cards, baking, walking my dog, reading, traveling, and spending time with family and friends. I also love the simple joys in life, like cheerful smiles, sunshine, and a good belly laugh.
