Character Civic Education

Wasatch STAR Character & Citizenship

At Wasatch Elementary, we help students grow as learners, friends, and citizens. Our character and civic education work is connected to what it means to be a Wasatch STAR: Smart, Thoughtful, Aware, and Respectful.

Throughout the year, students learn and practice habits that help them contribute positively to their classrooms, school, families, and community. These habits include responsibility, respect, citizenship, caring, fairness, kindness, trustworthiness, perseverance, and strong character.

Character education is not separate from academics or the arts. Students practice these skills when they collaborate with classmates, explain their thinking, solve problems peacefully, participate in performances, care for shared spaces, and make choices that help everyone feel safe, valued, and included.

Our goal is for every Wasatch Star to build confidence, empathy, responsibility, and a strong sense of belonging.
